Thoughtful gifts for new parents (that aren't more baby clothes)

When a baby arrives, so does a mountain of tiny clothes. Sweet, soft, and outgrown in a fortnight. If you want to give a new family something they will actually remember, here are a few ideas that tend to land better than another 0-3 month onesie.
Feed them
In the early weeks, new parents forget to eat. A home-cooked meal dropped at the door, a stack of easy freezer dinners, or even a voucher for a food delivery is worth its weight in gold. No one has ever been sad to open the fridge and find dinner already sorted.
Give them an hour
The most precious thing a new parent has lost is time, so offer some back. Hold the baby while they shower or nap. Run a load of laundry. Do the washing up before you leave. "Let me take this off your hands for an hour" is a gift money cannot quite buy.
Something for the parent, not the baby
Everyone brings something for the little one. Almost no one brings something for the tired person holding them. A soft robe, a proper water bottle for those long feeds, a good coffee, a massage voucher for later. It quietly says: I see you too.
A keepsake that lasts
The newborn days go by in a blur, and most of it never gets written down. A gift that helps a family keep those little days is one they will thank you for years later.
This is part of why we made JoJo Days giftable. You can buy a private journal for a new family, add a message, and let them keep every photo, video, voice note and first, with no subscription and no ads on their baby. It outlasts the clothes, and the fortnight.
The unglamorous hero
Not romantic, but ask any parent: a big box of nappies, ideally in the next size up, is one of the most useful things you can give. Wipes too. They will burn through both, and quietly remember who kept them stocked.
The real gift is showing up
However you do it, the thing new parents remember is never the price tag. It is that someone thought of them in the middle of the whirlwind. A meal, an hour, a keepsake, a box of nappies. Small, warm and useful beats big and forgettable every time.
